Hello,
So I am struggling here with import or live capture from a Mini-DV video camera. Ill post the specs of the computer at the end of the post.

My main concern is to capture live from the camera on the MacBook. This has worked twice with different older macbooks through a firewire cable, but once I set it all up for recording what I was supposed to record, it didnt work anymore. This last time I used QTP. Like I said, it did work at first, but then it didnt when I was recording with a full setup. I have tried with several different firewire cables, so I suspect that it might be a software or a firewire port issue. Can the firewire port on the mac overheat and short circuit, or is it a software problem?

My second concern is finding a free program that can import DV from the casettes through the camera, and having it work with this older computer.

Any helpful tips is appreciated. :)
