DV Ripping

So I wanting DVD ripping software. Would Toast work? The thing is they are copywrited. Now I know must of you think, great another pirate but I merely want to put my dvds on my laptop to 2 reasons, 1 I am traveling to Europe for 6 weeks, and it would be nice to watch a movie on the plane or every once in a while. So would toast work? I know for PCs there is dvd shrink. Anyone have any ideas?
