Dvd Burning Plzzzzzz

Hi

I wanted to convert few movie Cds into DVDs cause my DVD player does not play few CDs which i have..

I burned the cds onto my computer, then through ffmpegx converted into DVD and then tried to toast it, it showed i didnt have enough space ,, it was like 4.8 GB which is more than the space in a DVD. How can i compress that video so it fits into DVD

When i tried doin the whole process through toast , (i did.t use ffmpegx) it took 6 hrs, but in this case the movie fit in but when i played it it had no sound, i triend various times but there was no sound ,

Well... aside from only having a partial understanding of what you are talking about.... can't you just rip the CD's to iTunes, then burn an audio CD of the music? I know I have a few CD's that for whatever reason will not play in my car but if you just make a copy of it it works fine.
