DVD burning

I've got all the stages of the Tour de France 2005 (so far) on DVD.

These DVDs were burned using an external Panasonic burner/player (not a Mac or PC device, but a television DVD burner).

I want to copy these DVDs so I can give a copy to a friend, how can I do that? The DVDs are 11GB in size when I get info.

I have Toast 6
Carbon Copy Cloner
DVD Studio 1.5
iDVD 4

an internal DVD burner in my Mac G4 Tower
Running 10.39
Dual 867

Also have an external Maxtor 200GB firewire drive

Finally, disks were burned in DVD+R format.

Disk Utility MAYBE

I'm currently trying Disk Utility, but I have to be careful to load the disks via my internal DVD burner - otherwise it tries to burn via the CD-RW (combo drive).

I'll let you know how that goes.

One encouraging thing is that it shows the disk as a 3.7GB disk instead of an 11GB file.

Disk Utility PARTIALLY works

OK. I've created a disk image in Disk Utility. That size was only 3.7GB.

Then I quit Disk Utility.

Then I dragged the disk image to Toast 6.

It showed up as 3.7GB and is allowing me to burn to my internal Superdrive (aftermarket Sony installed and usefull for more than a year now - right now is the only glitch I've had).

It says it will take 20 minutes, so at about 11:45 I'll let you know if it worked.

Well, I know you're all waiting for details while watching the British Open...

C'mon, don't be d#$%s. I seriously wanted help but have been sniped at in the past for not giving enough detail on system, hardware and things I've tried.

Nobody jumped to give me details and this is something I'm trying to solve TODAY. So if you can help, please do. Otherwise, read and enjoy the journey.

*No update yet on the Toast approach. BUT I do need to know whether to save the disk image as an .img file or a DVD master.

I've never tryed it as I don't have a DVD writer, but this is one of the most downloaded apps on macupdate, I guess it saves dvd's to your hard drive, which you can then burn.

Toast 6 > Copy tab > Read from Built-in DVD-RW (or choose from list) > Red button.

You be prompted to insert a blank.

I've never used the Finder burning and I don't plan to since I have Toast.
