DVD burning

If I rip a double layer DVD (thats ovr 5GB) and then use toast to burn the DVD, will it work on a single layer DVD? cause my dvd burner is only single layer I think, so do I need to get a dual layer one or what? its the super drive that came with the Rev. A powermac G5s

If you have Toast 7, you can compress it down to fit onto one dvd.
