Dvd Burning

I would like to make backups of my dvds that are playable in my dvd player. Also I would like to be able to do it without going into bootcamp. I've tried burning using Burn but I get error. I don't want to pay for any software either.
Any ideas on how to burn a playable dvd?

It's probably the copy protection that's tripping you up. Try MacTheRipper.

I can get the movie copied to my computer, but I am having trouble burning a dvd that will play in the dvd player.
