DVD CD Drives in Mac G5

I recently purchased a new Mac G5. I expected to find a Pioneer DVR 117 (AKA 108) in the unit. Instead I find a Sony DVD RW DW-U21A. I had planned to flash the Pioneer to release all of its usefulness including DL tech and 16X speed. I have searched the net including Sony's site for info on the drive. I cannot find any info on this 21A. Does anyone have any info on this. I suspect it is a converted 500 or 700 from Sony.
