DVD Creator?

Does anyone know of a good DVD creator program?

One that converts .avi files into a DVD format that works w/ most dvd' or something similar to that?

iDVD reads .avi files? Even the ones using the Divx or Xvid codec, most likely the codec used in the videos the OP has?

I haven't used it in a long time so I wouldn't be able to tell for sure.
my guess is it uses the quick time engine which you can extend to support just about anything using perian.org

if not handbrake.fr is a great utility

and I don't get why people use .avi.. its tons outdated, the developers stopped developing on it in 2006

It's still a popular format and is widely used in the file sharing scene. Old habits die hard.
