DVD-DL Firewire troubles

Hay all, just upgraded to Leopard with no problems..loving it so far
I got a MacBook.

I have a DL DVD writer that worked fine b4 running through firewire..now it only works in USB mode..anyone have any idead why OSX dont see the drive when I try to plug it in though firewire?
