I recently installed iTunes on a friends HP Laptop with toshiba DVD-drive, but the computer can't recognise existence of this drive afterwards. Tried going into BIOS-settings, and downloading drive update but PC states: drive cannot start (error 10). Problem was solved when iTunes un-installed. Any ideas to solve?

Was it iTunes 8.0.2? Does your friend have an older version on the computer already? If no to 8.0.2, download directly from www.itunes.com or www.apple.com/itunes. If there is an older version, remove it from the Add/Remove Programs section of Control Panel (with XP; its Programs & Features on Vista), and just to make absolutely sure its all cleared off, also uninstall QuickTime, Apple Mobile Device Support, and Apple Software Update while you're at it. Full steps for doing so are outlined on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 for XP and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 for Vista.
Also check Windows Update to see if there's any updates for the computer on that end before reinstalling iTunes.
