Hi guys, can anyone help me with this problem? It's only started happening in the last week but my warranty has ran out. What solutions are there other than having a tech guy pull the machine apart?

Cheers, Marcel

which iMac version ? could you try normal CDs?

I'm not sure it's faulty SuperDrive but if it is go to ifixit.com it has guides and spare parts for all mac computers

Yeah unfortunately it ejects all discs. Is there a way to clean it?

Too bad you don't have AppleCare. The SuperDrive in my mid-2007 iMac started doing this, too. The replacement cost, including labor, of $446 was completely covered by AppleCare.

im sure today it is better

im haveing the same problem ,imac seems to make it hard to fix easy problems but today the internet has all kinds of free fix its..just need to find witch one

Possible fix

Try holding your finger over the slot as the DVD ejects. It should go back in and boot up. Worked for me and it's better than a $400 repair bill.
