Hi, So i recently acquired some files in .mkv and .mp4 formats. I'm trying to find some way to use HandBrake and Burn to convert and burn these files to DVD that my Sony SLV-D380P player can read. I've tried various different paths to make this happen but so far all of them have failed at one point or another. Can anyone offer some advice on how to do this? I'd really appreciate it.

Something to think about:
Get an ATV2 and ditch that ancient DVD / VHS player. The ATV2 setting with DD5.1 & AAC audio is about 700MB per hour.
DVD is dying and VHS is stone cold.
The catch... You need a modern HD TV with HDMI.

Transcode them to .mov with MPEG Streamclip, load the files into iMovie and share the project to iDVD.
