What would be the best way to do this? I know you can't import more than 2 gb worth, I only need to get about 6 mins of DVD in. Thanks for any help...

You'll need to convert the DVD to a quicktime compatible format:

Handbrake (free)
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21117

Toast Titanium (pay for it)
http://www.roxio.com/en/products/toast/

Mostly these apps will output AVI, so you might need the DivX codec to work with the files in quicktime (free)

If the clips you are ripping off DVD are longer than 9-10 minutes, you'll need to upgrade Quicktime to Quicktime pro ($29.99) so you can cut them.

There is other open source (free) video editing software, but I don't much about them.
