hey,

i'm a second year tv production student and i made a trailer in my first year which i really enjoyed. what i want to know is how do i rip a DVD into Final Cut Pro so i can make a trailer. i want to split the film up as well into segments.

help would be much appreciated.

If the DVD is not ecyrpted (it should't be since you made it) then you need to download FFMPEG X.

1. Run it and open up the video TS folder one the DVD and load the .vob file that has the clip that you want into FFMPEG. (You might have to repeat this step a few times to find the correct .vob file to get the section of the DVD that you want).

2. Once the correct .vob file is loaded you will be able to preview all content, so you then scrub through the content and set the in and out points for the section of video you want to extract.

3 From the menu select export and export it in whatever format you want.

its not my own dvd....i want to rip the transporter.....is there anyway of getting around the encrytion?
