dvd mounted, but not playable

hi

i tried playing a region 2 dvd yesterday.
the disk mounted successfully, i can see all the files through the finder.
but
VLC doesnt play.
i choose open disk, then i select the VIDEO_TS folder.
I hear the disc moving, but the movie doesnt start.

then i try dvd player, it tells me to set the region(first time use)?

I have a mixed DVD collection, thats why im not sure what to do.

any solutions?

right click the DVD when it mounts on the desktop and select open with, then select VLC, you dont open the video_ts folder with VLC, but the whole DVD...well thats what i do anyway, i would test it now, but i don't have a DVD here to try out!
