I burned a DVD from my Macbook but it seems like it only plays on Macs. Whats the issue?

Was it a data/video DVD? The type of DVD media, -R, +R, RW? Dual layer? There are many factors that can prevent playback of DVDs on set-top players, like ones you would connect to a TV. Unless you have used this specific brand or type of DVD before, it's quite possible the issue is with the sensitivity, calibration of the laser in the playback device.

With what did you make your DVD. I once made a DVD with DVD Studio Pro, the first time I got it, and I was set on HD on for a normal DVD. Only mac's can read those.
