DVD Player audio output

Is there a way to boost the audio output of DVD Player? I have a powerbook and the DVD Player seems to be substantially quieter then itunes. I would like to have its output at least as loud as itunes. I know there are other options, VLC audio output is much better, but i tend to like apple's DVD player better the the rest.
