Can someone help? I put a dvd into the slot and the player won't read or play any DVD's is there something i can do?

is it just DVD Movies or is it any disk? Cause I had the same problem with my G4 iBook and found out that I could play movies from Front Row, even though no other program would play them.

I was having trouble burning DVDs a few days ago. I tried resetting my system and everything. I was a bit worried that my UMBP's drive was dead, then I remembered I had one of those old lens cleaners that everybody used to buy for CD and DVD players... popped it into my drive and now I'm burring DVDs like a champ. Maybe give that a try. Their only like $2-5 bucks.

try Front Row, and see if that works. (Apple(Cmd) + Esc) is the Shortcut. Hope that works...if not, then its most likely your drive, although it could be a cable or the LB or OSX there are a lot of possibilities, I just know in my case I was able to work around it with Front Row.

What happens when you put the disk in the drive? Does it show up on the desktop?
