DVD Player Doesn't Work

The DVD player on my 15" MacBook Pro has suddenly stopped working. When I put a DVD into the external disk drive, I hear some noises and then the disk is ejected. I'm sure it's not the disk drive that's at fault because I have two drives, and this happens with both of them. Any ideas?

I'd ask in the MacBook Pro forum or OS X forum. This is the Mac Pro (desktop) forum.

In lieu of that, have you tried other discs? I've had that happen once or twice with recordable discs.
