DvD Player - How do I watch a DvD in double speed? 2x? (dvd lectures for class)

Hi, I am in a class that provides lectures on DvD - is there anyway that I can speed up the lectures and watch it at double speed?

Is the apple DvD player capable of this or do I need a different program? I couldn't find an option to increase the speed, only an option to play it in slow motion.

Did you try watching it through VLC? I think that VLC has crazy options like that...
