So while trying to watch my last 3 DVDs from Netflix I've come across a tiny (but hugely annoying) problem.
I'm trying to watch the DVDs on my iMac but every 2 seconds or so, the image pauses for a split second and catches itself back up. This is especially annoying and noticable during panning cuts, but its noticable throughout and I cant seem to figure out whats causing it.
Plus, the sound never gets interupted, just the image.
I've quit all other apps while playing the video thinking it might help but it doesn't. I don't know what else to do.
Help! :(

I can't tell... Im getting an error when I try VLC.

"An error has occurred which probably prevented the proper execution of the program:
dvdread: i_pack_len >= 1024 (1500490985). This shouldn't happen!
If you believe this is a bug, please follow the instructions at <snip>"

But for the the few seconds it does play, it seems pretty choppy.
I have no idea whats going on. :confused:

Okay, are any DVDs working? Can your optical drive read other media? :)

The drive works fine besides the skipping image. I've used the drive to burn CDs, DVDs, etc and when the resulting media is played on something other than my iMac (ie. my Powerbook) its works fine. Just something with the DVD images that its not happy about.

Interesting. Try opening a new user account in System Preferences and see if it's any better from there.

Unfortunately I'm on the road for the next week and a half and didn't bring my iMac with me. I guess we'll have to revisit this thread later.

Thanks for all your help thus far mad jew! :)
