yes! So I have a new DVD drive and it is actually working!

question: when I insert a DVD into the drive, it automatically starts playing in DVD PLAYER.
Is there any way to turn that feature OFF?
In other words, so when I insert a DVD into the drive, it just mounts on the finder but does NOT play?

grateful for any feedback / suggestions !

See this: Disable auto play for DVD Player?

Note I have mine set to "Ignore" which I think does what you want, at least works for me.

added later: Since you don't want to open the application, if you find you want to open it after the DVD is in your drive, you can find the app at /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications along with other apps. I find it convenient to put a link to that directory in my Applications folder.

hey! I was actually trying to do this on my 2018 Mac Mini running VENTURA - and yes, it worked - so thank YOU!

question: I am NOT sure how to do this on my M1 MacBook Air running SEQUOIA - I can NOT find that panel in the system settings?

thanks again!

Note: If you don’t have an optical drive connected to your Mac, CDs & DVDs settings aren’t available.
