Using Apple DVD USB player.

With the new update now all my DVD's play in slow speed making it difficult if not impossible to watch movies. Also when I eject a movie the movie picture still shows on the screen. I have rebooted my Mac twice to no effect and NO NO NO I can't afford to buy all my DVD's in the Apple movie store so if you suggest this I will ask for a donation thanks...

Based on your signature, I assume your DVD drive is external. How about some technical specifics. Make, model, etc.? What software are you using to watch DVDs?

Apple DVD Player USB and I am using the apple DVD player. This problem just started after I installed the new OS today.

I just tried VLC (way too complicated) and 5K player. 5K player works but it has no memory so if I leave off at a certain part in the movie and eject and insert the disc again it forgets where I was at.

Does the console show anything happening? They dropped from Tahoe, perhaps that deleted something to do with the DVD player?

But if it works in 5K Player then it might be a corrupted .plist or something else.

Not a clue. How do I find out? 5K plays the videos at normal speed but lacks the memory which the Apple player has.

If you launch console.app and click 'Start Streaming' it'll show you a log of everything your computer is doing. I'm unsure of the processes for the DVD player, but consider closing all apps and turning off all network connections. Start streaming to get a baseline for what your computer is doing, then put in the DVD player and see what happens in 5K Player and the other DVD app.

I've used like 3 DVDs in my Macs since they had DVD drives, so I'm only being general here.

I tried another user account and still the same issue. I am confident this one is on apples end and I have to wonder if it will get fixed. I will call Apple sometime to complain but I won’t hold my breath. I still have many DVD’s but many I have bought on my appletv but still some I have not.

The 5K app plays the movies fine but with no memory. Darn..
