DVD-player won't work at all!

Hey I am having a major problem with the DVD player application!
I insert a DVD and it pop up DVD player but then it just dies. It beachballs forever, I have no external anything plugged in, non-Movie DVD's work fine, I can isntall things from DVD's or play DVD games.
I can also watch the DVD in VLC but for some reason when I try to make DVD player itself work it just won't load anything!

Anyway my system is 10.5.1 Macbook 2.0Ghz C2D 2Gb Ram (Apple installed) with an 80Gb HD.

Try a new user account to see if DVD Player works there.
