DVD-R used to be more compatible with set-top players but that was a long time ago. Any DVD player made in the last decade or so should read both equally well.

Both should work fine. But in my experience (and country) DVD- disks are way harder (and more expensive) to get by. I really had to look and search for the right disks because the old iMac's didn't support DVD+ disks. Luckily they do support DVD+ disks these days.

And since Apple doesn't support Blu-Ray, I no longer burn any disks. In fact, I replaced it for an SSD.

+ or -, shouldn't matter these days. I always get good results with Verbatim DataLife Plus DVD+Rs and they're widely available.

+ or - shouldn't matter. But when dealing with a lot of clients all over the world, certain places in the Middle East and Asia how reported issues with + disks.

I've been using verbatim -R printable disks and had some good luck with them.
