I would like to upgrade the drive in my dual G5. can i get a 8x +- DVD burner for it? i am looking for someone with experience. any help is appriciated thanks, clayton

Just got the Pioneer...

For an 8x burner make sure you get the Pioneer A07 same as 107. The 106 is 'only' a 4x burner. As long as you're running 10.3.3 it will be natively supported and you will be able to use it with your iApps.

At this point it may not be worth the investment for an 8x burner since the media is still scarce. If you get 4x media you can only burn at 4x (or less). Seems like $100 and something investment to go from burning a DVD in 10 minutes to 6 or 7 minutes would be better spent on upgrading your 512mb of RAM to a gig or something that may be more beneficial? (my 2 centavos)

Cheers,
-jason
