Hi in a forum earlier someone posted that when buying discs there is no point buying a higher speed than your dvd drive is capable of.

Good advice but does anyone know what speed the superdrive is of the G4 ibook 14"?

thanks
Ines

Amazingly enough, Apples iBook webpage is a stunning source for information on the specification of the iBook  :p
SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW); writes DVD-R discs at up to 4x speed, reads DVDs at up to 8x speed, writes CD-R discs at up to 16x speed, writes CD-RW discs at up to 8x speed, reads CDs at up to 24x speed.

edit: wait, that's assuming you are talking about the current iBook G4, which since you don't specify a model is all I have to go on.

thanks this is great, and yes its the current G4 ibook
cheers
