for years I used a program called MAGIC DVD RIPPER. Alas, they have stopped upgrading the Mac edition, so I haven't been able to use it in Monterey or Ventura.

MAGIC had a unique ability that was very valuable to me: many DVD extraction programs can extract the complete contents of an entire DVD Disc, or even break it down by TITLE. (MAKEMKV, which I highly recommend, does this wonderfully.).

But what I need is a program than can break down a DVD / TITLE file into the individual chapters. This is pretty unique!

MAGIC did this wonderfully, but I haven't been able to find a replacement.

I'm grateful for any feedback or suggestions,

Thanks

Not sure if 'break down a DVD into individual chapters' means a tool can read all the chapters already divided when the disc was created or reads a full title and split it into several parts in post-processing.

I've used VideoProc Converter for a year and had a great experience extracting digital content from DVDs. It detects all the titles, chapters, audio tracks, subtitles, and other media info, and also allows editing (incl. splitting and merging).

If you are interested, you can take a look at its guide on DVD ripping here.

Hope it helps and have a nice day :D
thank you so much for this! I am going to check it out ASAP! Thanks again!

For me, Handbrake worked well (beyond the obnoxiously DRMed DVDs).

Chapters, subtitles/CC, audio tracks (including alternate languages and commentary) all worked well in QuickTime Player. At least from what I recall.
yes and no, in my experience, HANDBRAKE can do what I want, but I need to go through a process to separate each chapter. There's no way to do it (that I know of) automatically. The old MAGIC could do this. thanks for the input!
