I used Mac The Ripper and Handbrake to rip certain chapters from one of my DVD's but when I play them back (in VLC for the .vbo file and quicktime for the mp4) the video is a bit strange. When ever there is a quick movement on the screen, such as someone waving their hand, then the quality there isnt very good.

The picture because a tad distorted and you can see a series of horizontal lines. Is this normal? Or is it the program's that I'm using? It doesn't look like this on the dvd.

Here is a screenshot of what I mean. Notice how there are lots of lines in the video. (Picture the video showing this, not just the pause frame)

I'm no video expert but it sounds like something to do with video interlacing.. I'll wait for someone with more knowledge on the subject to tell you how to get rid of it

but have u tried ticking the de-interlace option when you rip?
