DVD "skipping over damaged area"

Hey guys I have a mid 2010 13'' MBP and whenever I watch a DVD I always get 'skipping over damaged area" a few times.. this has happened to almost every dvd I have watched.. Does anyone else have this issue? Or do I have a defective superdrive?

We have the same problem on our 2010 Pro, but most of the time its because our young children have groped the DVD's with sticky PB&J fingers Might want to run diagnostics on DVD drive or take to Apple store.

I have the problem on a few disks, but they are clearly scratched. You can try washing the disks in the sink first.

But if it's every disk, including new ones out of the box, then time for a trip to the genius bar.

They've been redbox and netflix DVD's but they didn't have scratches on them at all and I even tried wiping them just in case.
