DVD SP invisible menu buttons

I'm trying to use a photoshop icon as a button in DVD Studio Pro. I want to make it invisible when it's not selected and visible when it is selected, and then I also want it to light up or turn color when I activate it.

Can't seem to make sense of the user manual

any help?
