Hello,

I have just installed DVD STudio Pro 3.02 and am trying to build a DVD. It immediately crashes when doing so. If I build and format it starts doing something for a couple of seconds and crashes again. The DVD preview (similation) works perfectly. the mpegs are encoded as i always did (with dvd studio 1.5 i always used this encoding).

the crash report is quite long and lists a lot of other applications I have installed.

My computer runs i=on OS 10.4.7 and I have Quicktime 7 (the penultime version) and Final Cut Pro HD 4.5

I also trashed all the DVD STudio Pro Preferences and repaired disk permissions.

any idea what it could be?

help would be very appreciated!

thanks

Does the log list items in your asset folder (i.e. any really large photos you might be using in the menu? suspect video files and extensions correct?) or over the 4.4 GB limit?

Reason I mentioned the photos, in a burn project last week I had to resize two photos being used as background in order for it to render.

i would try deleting the dvd studio pro plist from preferences and then use disk utility or onxy to repair permissions..

They already tried that.

Upgrade to DVD SP 4. It largely fixes all the problems of the older version. DVDSP 3 is very crash prone. I highly recommend an immediate upgrade. :)

you think that's the only solution? since apple is charging for a programme it should at least do it's job! have you had any bad experiences with DVDSP3?

thanks for the hint, i'm new to DVDSP so I really appreciate any hints. I've checked all the assets:

the photo i'm using as a menu background is 636 kb. it's a really small dvd project with a menu of 4 buttons linking to 4 clips. 22MB, 76MB, 8MB, 27MB. The ausio files are seperate, which is new to me since i never used compressor before and none of them weighs more than 33MB. I think that should be ok for a 4GB disk, no?

Exactly like your experiences. I was fed up with the constant crashes. DVDSP 4 is very stable.

uff, i didn't expect to spend even more money...

i assume dvd studio pro works excellent with final cut 4.5? maybe i go back to version 1.5 which i used before, it was doing what i wanted. i'm not using this programme that frequently
