DVD SuperDrive Not Working!

Hi, Can Anyone tell me the answer to this riddle?

There was a man from Wales.
Who installed the latest 'El Capitain' update on his iMac.
The software loaded ok, and everything seemed fine.
Until he tried to use his external DVD SuperDrive.
And it didn't work!

Any suggestions how I can rectify this will be appreciated. Not very happy at Apple for this abuse.....can't speak to them right now! 'Am soo annoyed. What's going on!!!?
