Back on 7/3/02 MacFixit posted a few notes on how to put tape over the hole near the write/protect plug on Type 2 DVD-Ram discs which were "unreadable" in an internal Apple drive. What wasn't clear was whether or not the Type 2 disc was unreadable because the drive was one of the original G4's(with a Type 1 only drive). I followed with an e-mail requesting clarification which was answered by saying it was a workaround for a Type 1 only drive reading Type 2 discs. I haven't had any success with this and was wondering if anyone else has and could provide more detail on how to do it.
