Hi there,

I've had this problem for some time with my DVD super drive on my G5 PowerPC. My Dvd drive won't play DVD movies, however I am able to burn DVD videos (not sure about data files, haven't really tried). I recently upgraded to the latest OS 10.5.2 and updated using a DVD disc - it was recognised this time.

I went through System Preferences and under 'CDs & DVDs' am not able to change the option on 'When you insert a video DVD' to 'Open DVD Player'.. when i choose it, it automatically goes to 'ignore'. This is very frustrating... I've tried running a script.. to open VLC when i insert a video DVD - still doesn't work.

I'm not sure whether this is to do with the region of the DVDs i play, but i've tried different regions also.

I'm assuming this is a software problem? There may be a box i need to tick (or untick). Please help me if you have any suggestions.

Cheers!
