I did get my MBP yesterday.
I did put n a dvd ("We Were Soldiers") but it wont play, it just say that it don't accept the dvd. But the dvd works in my old windows computer and it did work in my old dvd player too.

I did then try some other cd's and dvd's, only pictures on them but they did work.

Does the disk mount on the desktop at all?

Ive had that happen with a few dvds. For some reason they just would not play or even mount, yet play fine in my dvd players. *shrugs*

1- Try other movie dvds
. Some dvd's won't play... I've had problems. Surprisingly, they work when you least expect it.
2- Check the DVD's Region Code
and your MBP player's region code.
3- Is it the app "DVD player" that does it? you can try "VLC Player"... if it plays on VLC then your "DVD Player" app is screwed up -most likely a red warning- and you have to reinstall it (which can very difficult, I did reinstall the whole OS once).

If nothing works or can tell you what's wrong, contact Apple ASAP.

I had the same problem with...almost ashamed to admit it, Norbit. My iMac refused to read it, my Xbox 360 read it fine.

I kinda wish my 360 didn't read it either, would have saved me 2 hours of my life.

I got it to show the dvd on the desktop now.. I did change from dvd-player to ignore when you put in a dvd in the drive.

It has two maps "Audio_ts" and "Video_ts" bup, ifo and vob files but I cant open them. Will try to download VLC and try, but I want to play it with FrontRow..

Okay. I did start frontrow with the remote and now i could start the dvd :D ..

Don't frontrow use the dvd-player app too? I did only change so it don't start from the dvd-player when you put the dvd in the computer..
