DVD writer options for new Mac?

For people who do video etc…we would need to get a DVD writer, this I am stuck on I don't know whether to go down the blu-ray or the apple USB DVD drive route. Any advice?

Trivial, just get a USB2 external blu-ray burner. They work perfectly (except that you can't play back unripped BR video since it's not supported in the OS). The disc writing part you won't have to worry about. In fact I am one of the minority of voices here who don't give a damn that the new iMac deletes the optical drive because I have been using an external BR burner this entire time with excellent functionality.

I am not worried about the Playback as i have a Playstation 3 for that
