That's a matter of opinion. Personally, I find Disco to be cool but somewhat immature in terms of interface. Toast still has more features, though. If you want to try Disco, it has a free trial available.

And about iDVD, is it possible to rip a DVD?

Nope. For that you want MacTheRipper (to rip full DVDs) or Handbrake (to reencode to .avi/.mov/.m4v/etc).
