i just got dvd2onex and am fairly new with it so bare with me.

i used mac the ripper to rip just the main feature. it is 5.20gb.

when dvd2onex opens, i select 'movie-only'

when i set up to compress the Video_TS, it only says it will compress to 4.81gb, and i think you can only fit 4.37gb on a standard DVD-R.

how do i get it to compress enough to fit the normal 4.37gb (even though my blank discs say they hold 4.7gb)?

thanks for the help in advance

ffmpegx's requantizer does a good job of encoding DVD9 to DVD4 - it has managed to get 7-8GB movies down to 3.7GB. If you find that a requantizer doesn't compress enough, you can recompress the movie using a lower bitrate (slow) or just split the movie and burn onto two discs. I personally go for the splitting option if the movie doesn't go down enough or if it loses too much quality.

You can also buy Dual Layer DVDs and that way you don't have to compress at all.

This is what you want to be doing:

Rip with MTR full feature

Compress with DTOX, movie only

Burn with toast 7 to a dvd

If you need anymore pointers, pm me, I use all of these programs a lot! I found that MTR movie only features doesnt work that well.
