My new MBP is on the way and I need to get a MiniDisplay - DVI adaptor but on the Apple store there are many reviews about it not working or being the wrong one!

I plan to use my Dell 22" monitor (E228WFPc) which claims to have a DVI-D and VGA input. So will the adaptor work ok with this DVI-D input?

Thanks - so is this exactly the same as the Apple one (just not a rip off?) What is the real story with the seemingly different MiniDisplay to DVI adaptors with some bought off the Apple store not fitting some monitors?

It's a third party aftermarket adapter to connect computers with MDP outputs to monitors with DVI input. I'm not sure what mean by rip-off. Apple introduced this smaller MDP connector in '08 and does not require a licence fee from others who use this standard.

Don't know about any "stories", but I can tell you I have been using this adapter for about 4 months without any issues.
