So i purchased a DVI to HDMI cable to connect my macbook pro to an hdtv that i'm purchasing. I got the cable, but don't have the tv yet, so i tried it out on a friends 55 rear pro hdtv. I got a ton of overscan, but when i went into the system pref's and clicked off the overscan button, then the screen was only displayed in the center of the screen, about 6 inches around the displayed area were blank. Now my tv is an lcd, whould that make the overscan any less, or should i go with a vga connection for the tv has that input as well as hdmi. Also, i heard that hdmi from a computer is bad for it can cause damage or something. Any help would be great for i would like to get the best display out of this tv as i can.
