Does this describe the connecter/converter needed to run a second monitor with a VGA connector from the Mac Pro 2008’s DVI-I port?

The name at Amazon’s site is:
M/F DVI-I 24+5 to 15 VGA Converter Adapter for LCD HDTV

http://www.amazon.com/DVI-I-24+5-Co...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1211988044&sr=8-2

I know a DVI-1 to VGA converter is needed, but am unfamiliar with the “24+5 to 15” designation in the name. I was about to order the “Zoom H2” recorder from Amazon, and to pop one of these connectors into the box, but just wanted to check with you folks to make sure it’ll work.
Apple’s $20 variety seems like overkill. This one's under four bucks.

the 24 + 5 on the DVI end means there are 24 main pins and then 4 pins surrounding a big 5th pin ( the + 5) basically what that is is the big blade pin in the center of the 4 pins will do Digital signal while the 4 outer pins take care of analog signal. the 15 (24+5 to 15) is the VGA, 15 pins in a VGA connector.

Get the cable, it will work.

Peace:cool:

Thanks jonbravo77 sir,

'tis done.

Good to know it won't be joining my truckload of obsolete converters accumulated over the millennia -- not yet, anyway.
