Hi All,
I just purchased one of the new Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro's, and I am looking for a KVI Switchbox that will work with it utilizing my Dell 2405FPW display. I currently use an Avocent Switchview that switches DVI, USB and sound and will drive up to 4 computers.
The problem with the Avocent is it is extremely flaky. It seems only certain video cards work correctly through the switchbox so on one of my PC's I've seen issues where the screen blanks as if the resolution is switching and it never displays correctly.
I also just recently returned my Core Duo Macbook Pro to the Apple store because I had just bought it and wanted to get the Merom based Core 2 Duo. I tested the MBP with my switchbox and it would only work when the lid was open. When I would close the lid, the OSX desktop would appear briefly on my Dell display, but then it would proceed to go blank much like my PC does and it would never return unless I opened the lid to the MBP.
Are there any other 4 port DVI switchboxes out there that switch DVI, USB and audio and support resolutions up to 1920x1200? And to further complicate matters is there one that isn't $800? That seems like an outrageous price to pay for a switchbox when I could just get another 24 inch display for less than that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
