So here's an odd one. First my setup:
17" MBP
Mac Mini - 2.0GHz C2D Superdrive standard config
23" Apple LCD shared between both machines on a Gefen 2x1 DVI KVM Switch
Monitor cables to both computers have had the "sleep pin" removed (pin 16 - see Gefen FAQ, scroll to last question - http://www.gefen.com/kvm/support/faq/ ). Basically, with this pin intact, Macs go to sleep when the KVM is switched to the other computer. I don't know the details, but removing this pin keeps them from going to sleep. This may not be important.
When I go through one cycle of switching - from the Mini to the MBP and back to the Mini - the Safari window drops down about half an inch or so. It stays the same size, so the bottom is cutoff at the bottom of the screen. If I don't move it back up, it drops down by the same amount each time I complete a switch cycle. It's only Safari - no other applications that I've checked appear to exhibit the problem. The Safari window is fully extended from the top to the bottom of the screen.
When I switch back to the Mini, I get a blue screen for a second or two, as if it's resetting to the size of the display - the same blue screen OSX shows when changing the resolution or other display prefs. The MBP and the Dual 500 G4 tower the Mini replaced do/did not do this - they just pop straight back into the screen.
Because of this, I'm thinking that the Mini is reverting back to 1600 x 1000 or something when switched to the MBP.
Any ideas? Is there any way to get the Mini to lock to 1920 x 1200 when no display is attached? Why does this only affect Safari?
Clearly, this isn't the end of the world. It's just a bit annoying, and I'd probably be satisfied just knowing what's going on, even if I can't fix it.
Also, it'd be great to skip the blue screen, to speed up the switch a bit.
Thanks!
