I have a DVI to ADC adapter (model A1006) that was used to connect an Apple 15inch LCD Studio Display to a ATI8500 in a G4 dual. Recently when I powered the system up, the LCD display did not light up.

I connected a CRT to the VGA port and that worked, so I am presuming the video card is OK.

While trying to troubleshoot, it sounded as if the DVI to ADC adapter is making a clicking sound.

Does anyone have any troubleshooting or advice?

Can you borrow a DVI monitor from a friend or neighbor? If it works fine with the straight DVI connection, then it's probably the adapter (and if it's making clicking noises, it's safe to assume it's on its last legs). But you'll want to make sure that the DVI port on the video card hasn't been fried because of the bad adapter or that the bad DVI port broke the adapter, because then you'll need a new video card in addition to or instead of a new adapter.

That is a good suggestion, I'll ask around to see if I can find a monitor to borrow and check the DVI connection.
