i have a hdmi device i want to use with a display that only does dvi
i want a dvi to hdmi adapter that has rca audio does it exist?

Pointless, because standard DVI does not carry audio, and your DVI monitor won't produce sound through it. Just run stereo audio cables separately to wherever.

i was thinking so i know unstandard dvi can carry audio on unused pins
although i was hoping hdmi could split the audio off to rca and video to dvi not having to worry about that

RCA carries analog audio, and HDMI carries digital audio, so you can't simply split it off. You would need a decoder, which isn't simply an adapter, it would be a box that plugs into the wall and costs a few hundred bucks.
