Along with a mini-DVI to DVI it should. I have and use that cable with a Mac Mini.

Hey overanalyzer. I got a little question...
Why does the OP needs a mini-DVI to DVI adaptor??
He/She is usng a MacBookPro, which as a full-size DVI port.

Yes, outputting to 720p shoudn't be any problems. In-fact, I reckon you can output to 1080p & 1080i, as they're both well within the supported resolutions of your Mac.

Also, I think you'll need to have a audio adaptor too, that's suitable for your tele, cause the DVI to HDMI conversion from the Mac probably won't have audio signals - thought i could be wrong.
