I'm looking to take a recored football game (for instance) off my direcTV DVR and get it to my iMac. Once on the iMac, I'd like to edit the game for selected plays. How do I do this?

Unless the firewire outputs on your DVR are enabled (highly unlikely, which is very frustrating), your options are either A) look for a hack online for your box (which can lead to all sorts of problems down the line) B) transfer your program to a DVD (which limits your options editing-wise) or C) connect your DVR via either the coaxial output, SVHS, RCA etc to something that has a firewire (or USB) output so that you can connect it to your computer (look at elegato.com for options)
