Ok is there anyway to get my recorded things from my DVR to my Macbook because i am not home that much and would like to watch them on my macbook cause they have better screens. :) macs are the best. And what kind of cable would i need to do that.

It depends on what make and model your DVR is. Personally, I use a USB cable and MPEG Streamclip to copy recordings from my Topfield DVR to my MacBook Pro.

I'm not sure if you can do a direct download. you will probably have to get a video capture device and do a real-time transfer using the RCA output of the DVR.

Or you can get a Slingbox that hooks up from your DVR and transmits through the internet and you can watch your home tv from your computer.

if you have directv they just released an app called Directv2pc but Im not sure if they have a mac version or if it could be emulated some how.
