DW cs3 template locked? oh boy...

Hi folks,

I'm trying to edit a dreamweaver cs3 page for my website.
I had dloaded a template (pls don't hold that against me :) and I've been updating my site for a few years now. I've never seen this message.

I'm editing on a page on which I've added text, some clips etc...

Now i'm trying to add a flash video instead of having external links. I go through the steps of add a media file - flash video, but when I add it, I receive a message along the lines of "Hey, you can't edit this b/c "...that is locked by a template or administrator."

I found a link off google explaining that may the ' <head> is before the <script> ' , but I'll be honest - i'm a beginner on coding so I have no idea what that means. I checked the split box and found a head which is grayed out (assuming this is b/c it's from the actual template .dwt file?) and I found the script (which looks editable).

What can I do?

Ironically, I'm supposed to have my site updated for tomorrow morning (ad going in the paper). I could leave the links there, but it's somewhat critical b/c those links lead to files on my homepage acct which Apple stopping very soon.

btw, i guess this locking issue would be related to the 3rd column (also locked), which i'd like to eliminate or use?
 
I'm new to this as well, but as far as I know - the <head> before the <script> is fine.... so it's not that.

As for editing the script - I would recommend not doing that!!! (if you mean the Javascript, that is)

It's sounds like your trying to embed a flash video into the javascript... sorry but I'm a bit unsure . Try using the "Error Console" in Firefox to figure things out.
 
Download or select the page you are interested adding the Flash into and (using Dreamweaver) select Modify/Templates/Detach from Template - That should remove all the template code and make the page editable. Then edit and create template portions again as you see fit.


On a side note, when it's editable, move "<!-- #BeginTemplate "/Templates/Main2.dwt" --><!-- DW6 -->" down below <head> and that portion will validate properly. You've got 54 errors and numerous warnings otherwise, but DW creates horrible markup so don't fret too much on issues like this.
